Hi

Well we've have the bombshell that Pearson are withdrawing e1

We are bound to look beyond the deal with RM presented to us so what are others in the same boat looking at?

Anything that impresses? or depresses? how good/bad is RM? SIMS?

as we're moving buildings in summer 2014 this needs to be sorted sooner rather than later

Thanks for your enquiry about Aspen MIS Jane, our team will be in contact to talk you through that.

I always strongly encourage everyone to look at all the interesting players in the market to ensure that the one you take is the best for you. The best being Aspen MIS of course (great sales talk me!!!).

Consider what are the most important things for your school and and for the plans for the future; if you have to make a move might as well make the most of it! Being E1, you are probably going to want to stick to a web solution (sorry Capita!).

Well @GREED almost all Norfolk schools moved to SIMS from e1!

Yes because NCC did a procurement exercise and Sims was chosen therefore most Norfolk schools would have moved.

Don't think Capita was either (based on the amount of problems they had)

Not sure about that @matt40k. We migrated 350 schools over 8 months and the Norfolk co-ordinator spoke at our conference about their move together with a head who sang our praises.

You do make me laugh @PhilNeal, your optimistic outlook on post-events is always entertaining. I wasn't referring to migration of "350 schools over 8 months" - I'm sure you did that very, very well, that's your bread and butter after all that's one of the reasons you got to no1. I was referring to your hosted solution where the identity management died and took days (or was it weeks??) to fix leaving all those new schools without a shiny new MIS - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/79344-hosted-sims-outage-anyone-affected.html

I'm sorry, that was a school boy error that shouldn't happen, and it certainly shouldn't last longer then a day. When your hosting such a critical system and at that sort of scale, you have no excuses. Clearly you had to make sacrifices to hit the right price point and skimp on the corrent hardware\software or you had to rush it to production and didn't set it up correctly such as skipping the testing.

Norfolk co-ordinator spoke at our conference

Sure they would, they's trying to savage as much as they could and promote the service they've got. Wouldn't be surprised if it their butt on the line alone with Capita's. Anyway, will all come down to what happens when they come to renew - we all know you have them in a iron clad agreement for now. Serious tho, don't paint spots on a horse and call it a zebra. Accept the that your a horse and embrace it, stop trying to be something your not (well until you make Sims Azure).

Could so take this waaay off topic, but I'll resist and just remind @GREED he needs to put that FOC in with the DfE in Dec.

@HWSWB - might be worth having a look at the government procurement service (Information Management and Learning Services | Government Procurement Service) - they have a list of approved suppliers - Find a Supplier | Government Procurement Service - so at least you don't have to worry when a certain MIS sale people raise the question about another ones financial situation. Just to confirm: Histon House Ltd is ScholarPack and Novatia plc is Aspen.

Sorry - meant FOI - Freedom of Information

I have some later figures than the recent ones I posted but not sure if I'm allowed to have them in public domain.

Which figures are you talking about? Any FOI request is already in the public domain so ..

@matt40k you've given us a good laugh in the office!

Hope your not referring to the one currently going on @GREED...

@scholarpack I joined it with the EduBase data and linked it to the summary of school expenditure. Planning on showing it as a map, assuming I can get a bit more up-to-date data that doesn't make you laugh :p

I just meant your rant about Norfolk gave us a laugh.
