I have a very cheap digital HDMI switch, 3 in 1 out, that has almost completely died. Input 1 shows a picture but with random pixels colour shifted hard to red, input 2 is dead, input 3 shows an image perfectly but flickers on and off every few seconds.

Now, being the cheap skate I am, I'd rather try to repair it than just buy a new one :p

Has anyone repaired one of these things and of so, any idea what kind of faults I can expect to find? My plan initially is to test each component with my MM and replace any that have failed and possibly replace any caps/resistors with higher quality ones.

I also suspect it's feeding voltage back down the HDMI as it has been known to BSOD my PC when connected, so I'm hoping there's somewhere on the V+ I can fit a protective diode...

BTW - I am completely amateur when it comes to electronics, but find little projects like this a great way to learn
