Aruba maximum 65mbps connection

Our Aruba wireless has been rock solid over the last 5 years and worked great but I recently noticed no laptop can connect quicker than 65mbps

 

Our AP's are 121 models which are rated b/g/n 3x3 mimo

 

So should I be able to connect any quicker? I have a new macbook air here which even has ag wireless but only get 65mbps maximum.

 

We are using WPA2-Personal encryption with AES, I wonder if thats restricting it in any way?

Looks like its the clients. I can connect faster on my new macbook air.

It looks like your notebooks are only single stream.

Check WLAN drivers, we had a issue with our Aruba and speed with Dell Latitudes, once drivers were updated worked miles better.

WAP2/AES is the one way to ensure your HT rates WILL be available.

 

A data rate of 65 Mbps is achieved using a single 20Mhz spatial stream and either 64 QAM with 5/6 error correction and a long guard interval or 64 QAM 3/4 with a short guard interval. Either one of those would be at optimum or near optimum signal strength and signal to noise ratio, so it would indicate that everything is as it should be.

 

Check the specifications for the wireless card and see what HT MCS's it supports.

 

802.11n client devices are only required to support up to MCS 7 - single spatial stream, however if it supports 5GHz and your planning and design is correctly done you may be able to use 40Mhz channels, which would give 135 Mbps under the same conditions.

 

Remember, a 3 x 3 access point with 1 x 1 clients is no better than a 1 x 1 access point.
