The Student room.co.uk- unblock?

Hi All

 

Does anyone have any experience of the website The Student Room

 

Looking at the forum within has some choice subjects!

 

We've had a request from some of our sixth form to unblock it in school.

The relationship section wont be suitable for the younger students but for sixth form it should be fine. Had this crop up a few years ago.

Hey Steve,

 

I actually work at The Student Room (as well as being a veteran of the site - over 8 years now from when I was in 6th form!) and thought I'd join here to answer any questions.

 

What FN-GM says is right, if you take a look at the Forums tab you'll see an awful lot of different forums on the site which are split into different areas (Study Help, Hobbies & Interests, Life & Style, Careers etc). So you're just as likely to find questions on going to uni as you are relationship issues.

 

It's worth a look at the different forums - the study help sections are great and one of the most popular areas, as well as our new 'Study & revision' section (found via the tab at the top of the page). Our GCSE and A level forums are also v.popular too and worth a look.

 

Our site is also fully moderated, and all content can be reported by any member as well as having a swear filter.

HI @ChrisMc thanks for posting. While it is moderated there is content in there that wouldn't be suitable for KS3 students for example. Some of the stuff in the relationship board can be graphic.

Depending on your filter, couldn't you just allow specific sections?

 

For example:

 

Edugeek.net/forums/general = allow

Edugeek.net/forums/gaming = blocked
