X-13 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Title pretty much sums it up... I was never shown the software apart form a basic "this is how you install it from a disk" so I've got no clue how to get it out of EM Mode. I know it needs firmware updating, but I have no idea how to do it... [And I don't want to [censor] up the backups] We have a Buffalo Terrastation, not sure which one.

We have a Terrastation and a LinkStation here and I've used several Terrastations before. Don't panic yet. From experience Terrastations are built like tanks. You need to see what errors are displaying/LEDs are lit on the unit itself to work out what to do next. There's loads of help on NAS Central here: EM Mode - NAS-Central Buffalo - The Linkstation Wiki Also, if you're feeling brave you could try and telnet into the NAS via ACP commander - more info here: ACP Commander - NAS-Central Buffalo - The Linkstation Wiki
X-13 Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 So, I tried to update it... This is what happened.
Netwacky87 Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 From my old Linkstation (we are talking almost 7-8 years ago tho, so this is from memory) when its in EM mode, it has a 192.168.1.150 IP address, so you need a PC in that IP range, again from memory!
X-13 Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) From my old Linkstation (we are talking almost 7-8 years ago tho, so this is from memory) when its in EM mode, it has a 192.168.1.150 IP address, so you need a PC in that IP range, again from memory! Ours is saying it has the right IP address... I don't even have the key for it, so I can't test the disks. [i've read somewhere that it can fail to boot properly if a disk is damaged.] Le EDIT: I moved it into my office to test it... Auto-firmware update and now it's working. [Though at 95.6% capacity.] Edited September 24, 2013 by X-13
