Hi all,

We had a Server 2008 R2 server with all XP Machines which seemed to work fine with the below setup.

-------------------

Student had .man profiles

\\server1\userprofiles\student

Then their user start menu would redirect to \\server1\students\desktops - where we could easily drop desktop shortcuts to installed programs.

GP locked down control panel, run, cmd, IE, added the proxy and home page.

-------------------

Since upgrading several machines to windows 7 and internet explorer. The .man profiles for windows7 don't seem to work as well or there are logging issues. IE not applying the proxy from GP.

Profiles seem to be a thing of the past, any advice how you have your windows 7 machines configured?

.man account do not work with Windows 7 (or Vista). You need to create a new mandatory profile for 7 with the .v2 extension - Vista and later will load this profile instead if it's located in the same directory as the .man.
