i need to add 2 vlan on hp procurve

hi all

its my first time here

i need to add 2 vlans at 2&3 levels in hp procurve

the network is built from 5406 (core) and allot 2510

the network is in flat stat just vlan deafult

how to configure it

can u show me exampels

On the 2510 are you able to get a telnet session to the switches?

 

If so, at the prompt, type the following in the quotes but without quotes..

"En"

This will log you into the admin side of the switch

"Vlan 2"

To gain create and add vlan2

Now you just need to configue vlan 2

When finished type "write mem" to save the configuration to the switch memory.

but this is just config for one vlan in the edge switch

i need to add 2 vlans in core switch

and creat tagged link (802.1q) to move the vlans from switch to switch.

now all the users and the managmant are in default vlan (1)

so i think that i need to change it to.

I would strongly suggest reading the switches documentation before you go diving into vlans, routing between them etc. All the documentation is readily available from HP's site - there's no point just throwing in commands if you don't know what they do, what effects it has, inter-vlan communication etc.
