Desktop Shortcut GPO to open link in Chrome Browser

Hello everyone,

 

I am trying to get some shortcuts to open in Google Chrome browser, rather than the default system browser which is IE.

 

We need to keep IE as the default browser.

 

The properties dialogue for adding shortcuts doesn't seem to have an 'open using app...' input anywhere so I'm stumped.

 

Any advice would be gratefully received, thanks in advance

Make a new shortcut, here is one that launches bbc.co.uk in chrome

"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" http://www.bbc.co.uk

Second that, we use this to open Bug Club in chrome

This approach has issues if you run a mixed 32 /64 bit environment. Also annoyingly Chrome App links (created with more tools > create shortcut) are not portable between computers
