Hi,

We have recently had a Ruckus wireless system installed and it works brilliantly. But now we want to add guest access for our students who bring in laptops etc and we've run into a problem. They can connect to the APs and enter the passkey to get onto the wifi but thats as far as they can get and it gets stuck on redirect. We have used a wpad file with the proxy settings in, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks Roger,

We went through the instructions to set up the wpad file. But we went through it again to double check it. And still the same issue arises. After you've accepted the terms and conditions it tries to redirect to the ip of the zone director instead of the url we've selected. We've even been given a wpad file from another school which this is working on. We are using on server 2003 if that helps.

Thanks,

Have you set up your access list for your guest network? Can they access the gateway and proxy server?

Also wpad files don't work with much - pretty much only windows to be honest. Apple devices need a proxy.pac file (same file actually, but need to be told where it is located) and Andorid generally need manual proxy info setting.

I highly recommend Ruckus' zero-it activation process and dynamic PSK for guest access, it's brilliant.

BYOD Solution | Ruckus Wireless

It works well on IOS devices but we've had issues trying to get it to work with Android ones. The problem was being looked at by Ruckus but we've used an alternative method instead which uses our Smoothwall box to provided authentication and thus access.

For guest access we use GuestPass which works very well and easy to use.

The only issues I've had with Android devices have been those using the default browser. Chrome on Android works fine, as done manually copying the PSK to the device.
