we bought a comodo intranet ssl cert from the sslstore however i've just noticed trying to create it that :

This certificate covers only https://name-of-site.com (Non www) We recommend to generate CSR for https://www.name-of-site.com so it works for both https://www.name-of-site.com (www) and https://name-of-site.com(Non www)

and the squid server I need it for is wpad.name-of-site.lancs.sch.uk

I guess that's not going to work then

Went with Namecheap in the end. Nice and easy, blew StartSSL out of the water for non-stupid questions (and the site actually works).

Annoyed me a little how resellers for products can resell them for vastly less. For instance, we got the same Comodo product from Namecheap for well under 50 quid for 5 years. From Comodo directly, they quoted just under that per year. It's all worth it according to Comodo of course, because you get direct support from them (sigh. It's an SSL certificate, not a website)

I use Namecheap for most of my domain names (the others are with Gandi). I forgot they did certificates too.

Their website seems a lot of more straightforward than GoDaddy's too!
