[sims] FMS Summer 2013 Printer Error

Here's a new one.

Just upgraded the Win2k8 R2 + SQL2k8 R2 server to Summer 13. SIMS and FMS. All seems fine.

Run FMS and get this error:

 

"Exception EPrinter in module Finance.exe at 00026A36.

Operation not supported on selected printer."

 

Bizarre, no listing of that here or on supportnet - that I could find.

 

So i just change the default printer and hey presto it's all fine. However, when i change back i still get that error. Yet it all worked fine with that printer before the upgrade AND my desktop Win 7 client is fine with the same printer as default.

 

Not too bothered as don't really use the server, but it's annoying when something like this happens.

I dismissed that as irrelevant It seems they fixed one problem and added another!

They are hopefully dialling in now to see why it's suddenly gone awry.

They just said , yeah changing the default fixes it, but, it doesn't as i don't want a fake printer as the default as i need a real one.

I missed a few calls and one 1st line guy tried to explain it really badly and failed. Something to do with logging in to FMS and changing the printer there in print setup to a different one, then saving and closing and going back in and changing, but it still didn't work.

 

I eventually sorted it, by running all windows updates, and then reinstalling drivers for the printer followed by a restart. Seems fine again now.
