Hi

We are in the process of moving our SIMS server from server A to server B. We will need to change the drive mappings for our 'M' drive to reflect the change so users pickup the new server. Have made the relevant change in this 'Drive Maps' area here.

All seems ok but the drive is still being mapped to the old location even after several reboots. NM who usually deals with this is away. Is there anything obvious that I may have missed? Ie does it need to be set elsewhere?

What they all said, you need to set it to 'Replace' if it exists already; taken from the help file of GPO,

Create

Create a new mapped drive for users.

Delete

Remove a mapped drive for users.

Replace

Delete and recreate mapped drives for users. The net result of the Replace action is to overwrite all existing settings associated with the mapped drive. If the drive mapping does not exist, then the Replace action creates a new drive mapping.

Update

Modify settings of an existing mapped drive for users. This action differs from Replace in that it only updates settings defined within the preference item. All other settings remain as configured on the mapped drive. If the drive mapping does not exist, then the Update action creates a new drive mapping.
