I am struggling with setting up Mulitcasting with SCCM 2012.

I can multicast to a VM client through vSphere 5.1, however when I try to deploy the same image to physical client I receive a 0x80091007 error. The vSphere infrastructure is connected to a HP Procurve 5406 switch and the client is on a HP Procurve 2650 Switch. All managed switches have IGMP enabled.

I have even tried connecting the client directly to the 5603, with the same error

Does anyone have any ideas on where to start with this? To me it looks like a switch routing issue, either on vSphere or Procurve. I have tried changing the VM NIC from E1000 to VMXNET3.

I have 400 workstations to reload over the summer and really don't want to unicast!

Can you test a physical switch client on the same VLAN as the Multicast source, so you avoid multicast routing issues?

This isn't a solution, but it's a fallback position in case nothing else works. Put multicast source and destination on the same subnet.

Thanks, that is my next plan using VLC Player across the same switch and then across the core switch, sadly I am outside all day on a sponsored walk, so I won't get chance until tomorrow now!

They are on the same VLAN and subnet though.

It does sound like a routing issue though.
