Hi,

We have a few users who's roaming profiles have been corrupted one way or another, so we are wanting to give them a clean profile.

Our profiles are stored on a file server.

We have tried changing to 'Profile Path' in AD for the relevant users, however it still logs on with their old profile and problems still remain. We have also removed local profiles on the machines.

Any ideas how we get a clean profile working without having to create a new user and profile?

Hi,

Have you cleared the profile from the register?

HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current version\Profile List\(user SID)

Look in each GUID listed for the user you are having an issue with, it should list the user logged on and remove the USER SID for that user.

thanks! Yeah tried that, user logs on now but with a tempory profile everytime.

The reason given in event viewer is that the registry is already in use?

ok in that case;

log off as user

login as admin

check there are no local profiles

check the registry again

remove the ntuser.dat, ntuser.ini and ntuser.pol files from the profile location on the server

and then login again you will need to setup the account again eg outlook etc but it should stop temp profile
