I just recently installed Java 7 Update 25 on a number of Windows 7 machines with Internet Explorer 10. When you go to the Java website and verify the java version, you get a an error: Microsoft Jscript Error, Object Expected. This also occurs on any website with a Java applet. We need java for our accounting software so we are temporarily using Firefox, but I would like to get back to using Internet Explorer. Chrome and Firefox work fine with Java. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, rolling back to IE 9 and installing an older version. None of these have worked. Has anyone else encountered this and how did you fix it? Any other suggestions???? This has me stumped. Thanks.

I usually install the default version that is selected when I go to the Java website. The 32-bit version is installed by default when you use the automated installer. In either case, I have tried installing one or the other at a time but neither one seems to help.

If you are on a 64bit machine you need both 32bit and 64bit java installed, with all the enviroment variables and file associations pointing to the 64bit install.

I can handle installing both versions, but is there a tutorial somewhere for the environment variables? I know how to change and create environment variables in Windows, but I am not familiar with the Java ones.

Well, I just did as you said and I still have the same problem. I can't seem to get a handle on this. I even tried disabling my antivirus and nothing. Any other suggestions?

It does seem to be as problem for me too, according to the Java support they said it is security settings in IE but I am not going to drop them. Anyone else had problems with applets?
