Hi Guys,

Just wondered if anyone had any idea on this.

We are having an issue with some of our new machines running Gigabyte H61M motherboards where when the machine is switched on it just sits on the POST screen logo this happens around 1 in 5 switch ons and the only way past it is to hit a key on the keyboard and then the normal boot process resumes.

Just to add this isnt due to any removable devices being left in

Many thanks for any help/time on this

There should be an option in the BIOS to disable the POST screen logo. This way you could actually see what it is doing in the background.

I actually tried this and it just sat with the American Trends logo at the top of the screen then of course you would expect the POST text to stream beneath and yet nothing..

But the moment you hit a key on the keyboard the machine boots to windows normally but just shows no POST text

If when pressing a key it boots Windows as normal, you need to look for something along the lines of Fast Boot or Fast Memory Boot in the BIOS. On older boards it was the norm that a full memory (RAM) check would be performed and not a quick check.
