Aspen MIS Data Specialists

 

Job Title: Aspen MIS Data Conversion Specialist

Business Area: MIS and Learning Services

Base Location: Winchester office

Annual Salary: As agreed

 

Main Purposes of Role :

 

  • To migrate data from a customer’s existing MIS System to Aspen MIS
  • To develop advanced reports using iReport
  • To configure data transfer interfaces between Aspen MIS and third party products
  • To provide input to bid submissions – specifically the technical aspects of data migration and advanced report writing
  • To communicate with customers on validating data.
  • To provide technical support for customers over the phone and via an online helpdesk system.

 

Key Accountabilities :

 

  • The successful conversion of data from a client’s legacy MIS to Aspen MIS within the project timescales
  • To ensure that clients are fully trained and aware of their responsibilities for data validation
  • To configure Aspen MIS data transfer interfaces to support interaction with 3rd Party applications
  • To write, as requested by the Project Manager, advanced reports using iReports, delivering to time and quality.
  • To keep up-to-date with market developments in the MIS market and disseminate to the team
  • Other duties as might reasonably be required by management.

 

Knowledge required :

 

  • An excellent understanding of SQL database structures – preferably within a schools MIS environment.
  • Experience Required :
  • At least 3 years’ experience of using MS SQL/MySQL at an intermediate to advanced level
  • At least 5 years of program development including JAVA and HTML
  • Significant experience of migrating data from multiple sources and formats into a single SQL database, including using
  • database conversion tools to migrate from MS SQL/Oracle to MySQL.
  • At least 3 years’ experience of writing advanced SQL reports using reporting packages such as Crystal and iReports
  • Experience of using SQL across a wide range of operating systems, including MS Server, Unix and Linux
  • Experience of at least one UK MIS system (essential) plus Aspen MIS front end (desirable).

 

Essential Qualifications :

 

  • Degree (ideally)
  • Current CRB certificate to enhanced level or willingness to undergo a CRB check

 

Technical Skills :

 

  • Strong Analytical Skills, including the ability to profile data and make recommendations for data cleansing
  • Advanced SQL, to create customer specific mappings/jobs to convert from legacy MIS to Aspen MIS, including the ability
  • to understand data values and all translations.
  • Proposal and Report Writing –including competent use of MS Word and MS Excel - Essential
  • Project Management within a consultancy/service environment

 

Personal Qualities / Competencies :

 

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to present a logical argument and take the technical lead.
  • Ability to relate to people at all levels within client organisations, including pupils.
  • A positive “can do” attitude to life.
  • Ability to work independently and as a valued member of a team of consultants.
  • Leadership potential as demonstrated by having the respect of delivery staff, peers and management team.
  • Travel and overnight stays are expected.

Aspen Sales Staff

 

Job Title: Aspen MIS Sales Executive

Business Area: MIS and Learning Services

Base Location: Winchester office/Home

Annual Salary: As agreed

 

Main Purposes of Role :

 

To develop the market and close sales for Aspen MIS within a defined sales territory

 

Key Accountabilities :

 

  • To develop a sales pipeline for Aspen MIS in a given territory
  • To deliver against a defined sales target
  • To attend and support regional and National marketing and sales meetings and events
  • To attend and support the Project Manager at the project implementation and meeting and during the implementation process.
  • To keep up-to-date with market and competitor developments in the MIS market and disseminate to the team
  • Other duties as might reasonably be required by management.

 

Knowledge required :

 

  • Working knowledge of a leading MIS system (essential).

 

Experience Required :

 

  • At least 2 years’ experience of engaging with UK schools senior leadership teams either within a school setting or as a supplier of product or services to schools (essential)
  • Engagement at a senior Trust or LA level (desirable)
  • Experience or knowledge of using data to improve learning outcomes (desirable).
  • Group presentation experience (desirable)
  • Sales negotiation skills (desirable)

 

Essential Qualifications :

 

  • Degree (desirable)
  • Current CRB certificate to enhanced level or willingness to undergo a CRB check

 

Technical Skills :

 

  • Excellent writing skills –including competent use of MS Word and MS Excel - Essential
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills - Essential
  • Experience of and engagement with cloud based products (for personal or business use)

 

Personal Qualities / Competencies :

 

  • Ability to relate to people at all levels within client organisations, including pupils.
  • A positive “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as a valued member of a team.
  • Leadership potential as demonstrated by having the respect of delivery staff, peers and management team.

  • Travel and overnight stays are expected.
  • Full and clean driving license and use of own car.
