SCCM 2012: Installing Updates in B+C

Hi,

 

I desperately tried to find a thread that covers this but couldn't, so sorry for starting a new one.

 

I'm having problems installing updates as part of my build and capture TS. I have specified the SMSMP= location as directed by the Windows-noob guides but nothing ever seems to happen. I've babysat the B+C sequence on the target machine but it never even seems to get to the install updates point, so I can't see any immediate errors. Can someone point me in the direction of the correct logs to view in order to troubleshoot this further? Also, if anyone's had s imilar problem in the past and managed to fix it, if they could let me know what they did I'd appreciate it.

Sorry, yes.

You need to advertise the Windows updates to the unknown computers collection as well or it won't work as part of a OSD task sequence.

So by this do you mean add all the essential Windows 7 updates to a software update group, then deploy them to the collection containing your B+C target machine?

I created a collection containing the unknown computer collection and my Windows 7 collection and pointed the updates at that collection. SCCM still thinks it's an unknown computer in a OSD task.

Put updates in UG, deployed, ran TS again and viola. Danke @andyrite
