Sophos PureMessage in Exchange 2010 DAG

hi we have 2 exchange 2010 Servers setup as cluster DAG. Reading through I have noticed Sophos Puremessage installs on Exchange Servers. How do I configure firewall ? do I forward SMTP to both Exchange Servers ?

Are they both setup with the same roles? Ideally you'd set your firewall to forward to whatever server(s) has the Hub Transport role.

both has mailbox + hub transport roles. they are setup as DAG cluster.

User domain name system (DNS) "MX" records to route mail automatically.

Ok - in that case I think Microsoft's best practice is to have an Edge server (or something to do some load-balancing).

 

Not exactly sure what you do with a two server DAG with Hub Transport roles on both... I'll have to have a read!

I'd imagine that you need something to do some sort of load balancing.

For example, how do you configure your clients? which server do you point them at?

 

Are you virtualising your servers at all?

we have

2 x Exchange 2010 Client Access Servers - setup as CAS Array

2 x Exchange 2010 Mailbox + Hub Transport

 

Outlook client connects to the CAS Array
