HeyJude Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 I have a great set of very small speakers for my laptop - they are only about a year old and have worked fine up until now, they operate on 4 AAA battereis and plug into the USB port. The last few times I have used them the batteries seem to run flat as soon as the speakers are turned off, i.e. I put in new batteries, use the speakers for 10 minutes during a presentation then turn them off, next day the batteries are flat, I have replaced the batteries several time with the same result - once I turn off the speakers the batteries never works again. Any ideas?
rhyds Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 It could be component failure causing a drain on the batteries. Do the speakers actually turn off when you press the button? The main way to work around would be to pop one of the batteries out when your done, not perfect, but cheaper than buying new ones.
HeyJude Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 Thanks for your reply, There is a green light which goes out when I switch off, but the batteries still run down. I had thought I would have to take the batteries out, but just one is better, the little things we don't think of!

Or you could just insert a thin piece of flat plastic in between the battery contact and the battery. Or you could solder in a switch!! (I'm not seriously suggesting that!)
