**BYOD** typo

 

I would like to know how other people use BYOD at schools and what the policies you have in place about mobile phones, etc i'm trying to find away...well I say find away but looking at pupils having the potently to use their mobile devices within a school environment. which in our SMT team don't like the ideas of as they have been fighting against pupils having phones in school etc. which I understand and I completely get but I know their must some schools out their that have already taken on this challenge and have had positive results

 

I wanted to use a end to end solution called air watch but my only argument with it was that the end user would of still have to put in a password for downloading applications assigned to them. however you was "able" have other phone devices connect and be able use your customized profile for their phone until they were outside of school however I believe you would still be able to use the phones main feature of texting and calling etc

Some year levels here have a BYOD policy, but it is only for accessing the net through our proxy/filtering software. There are no downloaded apps or shared drives etc.

Yup. This is why our BYOD network is practically unfiltered (Well, with the exception of porn)

My logic has always been if they are going to access inappropriate material or cyber bully each other in school, I'd rather have a log of it than not.

 

If you throw a ton of restrictions on it, people simply won't use it. *I* didn't use it before as a bunch of stuff on my iPhone didn't work with it, now I fixed it all I do.
