sLiDeR Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Any one used Celcat before? Thinking of trialling them for classroom bookings. Apparently it can integrate with Sims/NovaT Celcat Home Page
srochford Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 We use Celcat - it works well. Difficult things are setting permissions; this may not matter (we're a big college with lots of people who need weird mixtures of permissions) Installation is easy - the client is an MSI which you can deploy with group policy (so are the admin tools but you really only want a few people with them!) Upgrades are also easy and support has been very good.
kearton Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Any idea of cost? I've had a quick look at their website and see no mention other than the "email us for more details" line (which makes me think it'll be high)...
sLiDeR Posted August 25, 2007 Author Posted August 25, 2007 For total functionality, about £3.5k But its all negotiable, esp if ur just looking for the booking system.
webman Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007  If you can do without SIMS linking why not use something like MRBS or Classroombookings? Both free.
Joedetic Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 CMIS will do all your registration and exams and timetabling etc AND room booking. So just a word of warning...if you've got CMIS is it worth changing? (Other than besides CMIS is horrible). Webman is the Classroombookings one yours?
kxv2020 Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 In May 2008 Cover Management in SIMS.net which will hopefully include these features plus more!! Field trial starts in Feb 08.
sLiDeR Posted August 25, 2007 Author Posted August 25, 2007 hmmm interesting! Where you get the info for that??? Are you saying it will be a classroom booking service?
Joedetic Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 I'll have to d/l it and have a looksee webman...looks good though
kxv2020 Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Check out: http://www4.devon.gov.uk/eal/scomis/password/sept06/devon.pdf Quite old as it was due to be released in 2006 originally - the spec looked as though it was: There will be two parts to cover. net 􀂃 Cover Basic - at no extra cost - a maintenance update of SIMS .net - will include: - The capabilities of Nova-T4 Absence Cover - A powerful new Analysis tool - Cover data on MIDAS timetable displays Cover Enhanced – purchased under a separate license - will provide additional features including: - Time-based Absence and Cover - Support for roles such as HLTA, LSA – not just Teachers - Assign additional Staff and Room to lessons and events. - Cover for Calendar Events - Supply Booking system - Drag and drop Cover arrangements - Alerts – e.g. to HOD re absence within the department - Monthly Staff Absence and Cover summaries - Drill-down to individual Whole Year Overviews However this could all change as its 2 years late and the product moves onwards and upwards!!
sLiDeR Posted August 25, 2007 Author Posted August 25, 2007 No classroom booking system in that mate.
kxv2020 Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Ok...maybe it was just wishful thinking after reading it carefully
