Office 2010 remove key for when students take away laptops

Im having a bit of trouble here

We have students using laptops that they get to keep at the end of their time here

 

I need to make sure all school licensed software is removed, but I would like to be able to change office back to a trial version, so the student can upgrade later if they wish

You could use a KMS server so when they have gone and they are no longer on the network they stop working.

If you're using KMS etc shouldn't it auto de-reg after 90~ days of beign off the network? Same with Windows etc?
