Hey everyone.

Due to personal circumstances I have to move back to my home town, subsequently my job is up for grabs.

Required July 2013.

IT Technician

NJC Scale 4 plus Inner London weighting (£20,460 - £22,422), 36 hours per week Monday to Friday with ½ hour lunch break.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a positive and motivated IT Technician to join this Catholic 11-18 comprehensive school judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted in March 2013 and moving into brand new premises in 2015.

You will be responsible for maintaining the school’s networked computer equipment and managing the IT Helpdesk, under the direction of the Network Manager. You should have a good working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Office suite. You will be enthusiastic about IT & technology in general and be willing to learn about new technologies. You will have excellent organisational skills and self-discipline, and will be able to communicate effectively with other people.

Previous experience of working in IT support and familiarity with server and networking technology would be an advantage.

Experience of working in a school based environment is desirable. The ability to work professionally under pressure to deadlines and operate flexibly within the changing needs of the school is essential.

Please go here for the application form and more details.

I have some questions:

Would the tec be required to support primary schools? (if you support any)

How many other tecs are there?

And is the time for lunch negotiable?

Posted

We do not support primary schools at the moment but may be something that the school will look for in the future.

A Network Manager and IT Technician, its a small school with 550 students.

Lunchtime is possibly negotiable. Usually taken between 13:00 and 13:30.

Thanks for that info, all sounds good.

Would the school want some one to start asap? or would September be a possibility?

It is more then likely that the Tech would be required to start in August/September.

Hope you manage to find someone. Funny, I used to work there, wonder how things are getting on?

Not too bad! Again it's only personal circumstances that I am leaving my current post. I can still see your old helpdesk tickets!
