fiza Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Who allows Vimeo in School? I have been asked if we can use it to upload videos to but having a quick look there are some unsuitable videos on Vimeo that I wouldnt want students viewing in School. Just wanted to know if others use it in School?
TechSupp Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Just got it blocked here due to inappropriate content as we are a primary school.
Gaz Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Is youtube not a viabile option? At least you will have some control over it with youtube for schools.

I second this, we have just allowed the students access to YouTube Education, allows them to only view videos that have been classed as educational. However you can setup your own playlists that the students can view, any video can be added to the list, but the list is fully managed by you. Seems to be working well!
psydii Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 New York Public Schools use it: NYC Public Schools on Vimeo

What stops the students from just going to youtube.com? Might be worth looking at if I know I can control it.
Gaz Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 There are plenty of threads on this forum. What web filter do you have? For smoothwall http://www.edugeek.net/forums/smoothwall-direct-support/93751-youtube-schools-faq.html General thread. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/87277-youtube-schools-launched.html If they go to youtube.com they are automatically redirected to youtube.com/edu If they try and play a video thats not on youtube.com/edu it will just give them an error saying they need to contact the sys admin to allow access.
