Kyle Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Is it possible, if buying the correct package to use Office 365 with Sharepoint as a VLE? We use to have a Sharepoint Solution at my last school and we are looking at using something similar again at this school but the trouble is i know very little about Office 365 and what it can do.
AngryTechnician Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 SharePoint Online (which is what you get with Office 365 A2 plan and above) is a bit more limited than an on-premises install in terms of what you can customise. Not all third-party SharePoint solutions will work because some of them require you to log into the server and run setup programs, which of course you can't do with SharePoint Online. Other than than it is largely the same as a local SharePoint install, only without the headache of having to fix it when it randomly self-destructs, like most SharePoint installs I've had to deal with :S Personally I'm not convinced that SharePoint is a good choice for a VLE solution, but some people have made it work.
Sylv3r Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 We use a hosted Sharepoint solution in school and I will try and integrate this with Office365. I think even if I was to start again this would be my preference rather than having all the content in 'the cloud'. With the internet down without mail could be avoidable - without teaching resources is another problem all together.
