hawc Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Hi, Is anyone else on VM having issues playing CS:GO and other online multiplayer games? I have been having alot of lag and pings of over 400 ms since this morning. This is making most games pretty unplayable. PS: Does anyone know any Server IP addresses so I could test Thanks Harry
Rawns Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) Where are you based? My friend in Bristol is on VM and suffers awfully with lag spikes, dropped packets, high pings etc. He said it's been like it ever since VM doubled everyone's net speeds. He's a network engineer too so knows a bit about trouble shooting but VM seem to be claiming that there is no issue even though a vast amount of VM customers in the Bristol area have the same issues. I think there is even a Facebook group for disgruntled VM customers in Bristol! On example is DayZ. It takes him multiple attempts to get connected and stay connected to a server as the BattleEye file verification check fails at different times due to lost packets so he gets kicked due to signature check errors. if he times it right, it checks all files successfully and stays connected. hawc Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 Hi @Rawns I am in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. The issue has only been apparent in the last week. Today has been the worst. A call to Virgin Media customer services might be in order. Any way to get straight through to someone who understands rather than talking to someone in India who is reading from a script
Rawns Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) Maybe worth getting a continual ping to google.com on the go to monitor any packet loss. leave it for a few hours then stop it and check the results. Edited May 28, 2013 by Rawns
hawc Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 Doing that now. Will stop at about 5:30 and post results!
hawc Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 Did do it last night but the cat walked over the keyboard. It was generally 15-20ms but spilling at 500-700ms every 3 or 4 pings. Is anyone else on VM having issues?
