In the summer we will have several old Promethean boards going spare. They still work and I wondered if anyone knew of someone or some organisation which might like to take them? It seems such a waste to junk them

Hi @witch how many do you have and what version are they?

We a need to replace damaged boards and there is no budget.

We will have 6 but they are very old - probably at least 10 years? I don't know what version they are I'm afraid - but they had the same boards in the school I was in 10+ years ago. They work fine though

I can't find a recycling company that will give us money for them down here - anyone know of any?

@witch: I don't think I could get our head to agree to those: We have one of a similar age that I am still trying to get re-installed

However a quick Google turned up this site:

Link: Go GREEN with Intellisource

[Does anyone know these people?]

If you are looking to have a room re-fit or even a clear out of your old IT equipment, call us at IntelliSource. We offer a unique service of taking away and safely recycling your unwanted IT equipment, from PC's, printers, Interactive whiteboards, projectors and accessories.

Previously, old IT equipment from a London based school was recycled and IntelliSource sent the proceeds to a poor village school to buy IT equipment for the children to use.

What's the problem? Or does the head just not want it?

I think it is the way the board works: The board that we have waiting to be re-installed has a wide inactive border with the active region bracketed with marks printed on the board. Also the active area of the board is smaller.

We are having a block re-furbished after the Summer break and he has asked for boards that do not require a stylus to operate. Perhaps he has plans to move us away from Promethean on a school wide basis [but nothing I am aware of]
