Getting on to BIOS on a VAIO

Hi, I am trying to boot to USB on a Windows 8 Sony Vaio SVE1513E9EB.

I have tried the usual buttons, DEL, F1,F2, F11, F12 but it just keeps booting straight to Windows 8 even with my bootable usb key in.

 

Any help would be great.

if its uefi you might have to go into advanced shutdown options from within windows 8

Ah it was all going well but the laptop refuses to read my CloneZilla bootable usb. It works fine on all other systems.

Have just run off a cd copy of clonezilla, but same problem, and CD is listed as a bootable option.

 

Wonder what the problem could be.

On the Vaio's to get into the BIOS first power off the laptop. Switch it on by pressing the 'Assist' button at the top of the keyboard. This should load you into a Windows 8 style menu where one of the options is to enter the BIOS. You may need to flip any UEFI settings to make it recognize the USB stick.

Ahah, thanks that worked. After selecting CD/USB, it now says 'Secure Boot Failed Operating System is Invald'

It does this either with USB or CD.

Bloody annoying systems!! It took me ages to discover the booting via the 'assist' button btw

Thanks again! Lol bloody annoying is an understatement, it has taken me longer than ever to get an image of this blasted laptop. Getting there though at the loss of time is worth it as I won't need to spend ages working out how to do it with future W8 systems.

 

I have seen the assist button but I assumed it was something which only worked once the OS was loaded. I even remember reading in the instructions about it ages ago, but couldn't remember exactly what its function was.
