randle Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Hi, Is there any reason why Windows 2012 Server Windows updates would be so painfully slow? This is a fresh installation that's been activated and can't see why this takes so long!?! I'm not being impatient, I'm talking about hours to register a click to either browse detected updates or to simply set them off to install. All other usage on the server is normal and CPU/Memory usage are low at all times. Doesn't appear to be much on the web about this. I noticed this behaviour on the Windows 8 beta when I tried to update that. This is a VMware VM by the way.

randle Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 Yes, ESXi 5.1 as it goes. I was starting to wonder if it was VM specific due to the lack of reports in the wild of issues for the time it's been about!

mrbios Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I had this problem all the time prior to installing Update 1 to my ESXi 5.1 setup, I also get the same problem in vmware workstation 9.

Seems to have solved the problem in a matter of seconds.
