Asset Management Recommendations

My school are looking to get some new asset management software and basically start from scratch.

 

A few stipulations that the head wants are:

 

Able to manage all items not just ICT

Easy to use for Staff to manage their own classroom assets

Web based if possible

 

We looked at School Asset Manager and whilst this looked very good, the cost was a bit on the high side of £120 ish a month

 

Any recommendations / advice greatly recieved!

Spiceworks we use for that nowadays, free and works well, but it does need its own machine to run on

Actually in a similar situation. School asset manager is ridiculously expensive.

 

The problem seems to be that most Free/Open Source asset tracking systems are specifically designed for IT systems. Whilst they can be customised; it will take an awful lot of work and getting integration with (telephone) barcode scanners and being web based is difficult. I've not seen anything so far that will easily do what School Asset Manager does.

 

Anyone know what Hospitals use? THey must have huge amount of expensive equipment to keep track of too.

I've been looking at these obliquely recently. School Asset Manager is the only one I saw that I'd consider paying for. But our research was not thorough, and since my team have that functionality from our existing Service Desk software, we have this capability covered.
