Sometimes you need to go into the Integrated Devices section of the bios and change the option where it says that the onboard NIC is Enabled to Enabled with PXE (I have a load of GX260 desktops like this).

Another gotcha is that you sometimes have to reboot and re-enter the bios after this to enable PXE boot (I have some older Intel boards that are like this).

Still no joy with 2 Dells now.

Dell 120L

Onboard Devices

Intergrated NIC: Enabled

Get UNDI Not available

Dell D505

Boot Config

Lan Controller: Enabled

PXE BIS Policy: Accepted

Anyone know what i might be doning wrong using the same boot diskes on 5 differnet makes of computers with no problem.

If i burn the image to disk it will take 4 DVD's and one of the laptops only has a CD rom

Thanks for any advise given

Hmm. I have 25 120l's and RIS them quite happily. I've never encountered one that didn't. As Ric said though you will need to set the BIOS to enable a PXE boot.

I shall dig around one of mine for you to see if something is awry with your config.

cooper,

as Ric_ mentioned, have you fully enabled the NIC for PXE booting. DELLs usually have three settings for the NIC - e.g. "Yes" or "No" and "On w/ MBA" or "Disabled", "Enabled" and "Enabled with PXE".

You should then save the settings, re-enter the BIOS as the PC boots and set the boot order accordingly.

Good luck,

This is how the bios is set on both

====================================

The 120L Bios has 8 groups

System

On board devices

Video

Security

Power managment

Maintenance

POST behavior

Wireless

The only group i can see i have to set is

On board devices:

Interated NIC

and set this to enable

I cant see PXE in the bios?

=====================================

In the old Latitude D505

The bios is version A06

Under Boot Configuration

PXE BIS Policy: Accept
