Laptop not auto detecting projector attached

Hi All,

 

Ive got a Samsung 300e that wont auto connect when the projectors vga cable is plugged in and I have to use 'FN' and 'F4'.

 

All the other school laptops we have auto connect when attached to the projector. It used to connect before the bank holiday weekend and now it does not.

 

Ive checked all the settings on the laptop and projector and it all seems fine.

 

The laptop has the Samsung display manager software driver installed, Ive reinstalled this and its not solved it.

 

If you use the 'FN' and 'F4' to attach the projector if the vga cable is taken out while the pc is on then reattach it, It then auto connects. but if you turn it off still with the vga attached then back on again it does not recognise its attached until you use 'FN' and 'F4'

 

Any other ideas?

Windows update has probably done the clever thing it normally does and installed "updated" graphics drivers that have broken the auto detection. Download the original ones graphics drivers from samsung and see if it starts working again. they will be Intel HD of some variety. Edited May 9, 2013 by squeeky

I have had this issue with one of my primary school customers, If it is a old projector and a new laptop, there can sometime be a driver issue as above. Apart from that double check the VGA cable and like Squeeky said install the original graphic drivers.

Have you tried right clicking on the graphics icon in the taskbar and selecting output to second display or notebook+projector? this happens alot when FN and F4 doesn't work.

The vga cable works, ill try installing the orginal drivers was after other ideas.

FN and F4 work and so does going into the display settings. The issue is that when you attach the vga cable the IWB dosent auto send the image to the projector so the user has to use the function keys.

Just reinstalled an older driver and it seems to have fixed the issue.

 

Ill see tomorrow properly when the laptop is connected again.
