Sharepoint 2013 and SkyDrive Pro

Okay so I've installed Windows 2008 R2 with SQL 2008 R2 and Sharepoint 2013 I've setup a site collection (MySite theme) However when I click on SkyDrive nothing happens googling it doesn't seem to show anything useful anyone successfully set this up yet?

SkyDrive Pro comes with Office 2013, SharePoint 2013 will pick this up if you have SkyDrive Pro Installed. Is this not the case mate?

 

From the SharePoint 2013 interface click the “Sync” button when viewing a library.. Once you sync a library you get a new "SharePoint" folder which appears in your main profile folder alongside My Documents, My Pictures, etc and so for each library that you sync it will create a new subfolder and will basically keep a two-way sync between the two of them (you add, edit or delete a file here and it gets replicated in SharePoint, and vice versa).

 

If you sync the "SkyDrive Pro" library in your My Site (i.e. the one you get to if you click the “SkyDrive" link in the page header) then it doesn’t sync to the SharePoint Folder!

 

Instead it creates a special folder called “SkyDrive Pro” which has the same icon as the main “SkyDrive” icon (if you have SkyDrive for Windows installed as well!). This is also installed in your profile folder (e.g. "C:\Users\James\SkyDrive Pro").

 

You can of course run both SkyDrive and SkyDrive Pro side-by-side.

SkyDrive Pro won't work with linux or MAC then? I haven't got Office 2013 installed sadly at the moment. Can't it work without Office 2013 I suppose is the question?

SkyDrive Pro is part of the Office 2013 Media so unfortunately it's not possible.

 

"The SkyDrive client used for Office 365 SkyDrive or SharePoint libraries isn’t available on a Mac." < and so that would be the case for Linux also :-)

Shame however the SkyDrive option (doc library really) wasn't doing anything when I clicked on it either so...

 

It's suddenly sprung to life now though so not entirely sure whats going on? How long does site collection creation take to take effect?

It can take quite some time. SharePoint is an absolute behemoth at times and there are certain operations that feel like trying to steer an aircraft carrier.
