How safe is picsearch

 

I know it was unblocked by the LA but they let adult content through via google images so that isn't much to go on.

 

Can't find any adult content, just thought I'd check, also are people just allowing picsearch or the whole category? Image Search seems a tad dangerous

As far as I know, its completely clean.

 

However, our staff hate it. With a vengeance.

How come they hate it? is that hate using it as opposed to google images?

We aim to be 100% clean and users do not have the ability to turn off our filters.

I've tested it at home and its pretty clean but its far from google images in terms of user experience.

Thanks for your honest feedback. There are legal concerns with the way that google implements search which prevent us from doing what they do. What would be your number one wish for how we could improve the service further?

I cant speak for my students, but I like being able to search for an image of an exact size in pixel dimensions. I'd also prefer it if when clicking on a thumbnail image in the search results, I just want to see a larger image, not go to the website page. 90% of the time I just want to see a larger view of the image to see if its suitable.

Other than that I think its great you provide a pre filtered image search for people to use.

google seem to be above the law..... probably because they assist the law quite heavily.

 

 

bjorn how does your filtering work? Is everything pre-approved or is there some image analysis going on,

Our filtering combines automated text and image classification with a manual quality assurance step. Everything is not pre-approved but once we find non-appropriate content on a site we often block the entire site to be on the safe side.
