Jphillips91 Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Hi.. We have recently had an error with one of our projectors, an Sanyo PLC-XE20. When we power it up the power LED changes from red to green , the fans change from low to max and then after a short moment the light changes to a flashing red, with the fans still on max. After a minute or two it goes to a solid red, and when we try again it does the same process. If anyone could offer any advice, or a solution that would be great. Thanks allot!!
sparkeh Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Sheesh! We had exactly the same thing on a few of our projs, were told that they needed to go away for repair and not something we could fix ourselves.
Gurra Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 (edited) I am not familiar with the PLC-XE20 but on the PLC-XE40 when the thermal switch has tripped you get exactly this phenomenon. It is very easy to reset with a screwdriver once the cover has been removed. Assuming of course it isn't the bulb because I think you get the same fault symptom with a blown bulb also. Thanks, our projectors were under warranty so I didn't think too much about it, now they are out of warranty, if it happens again I will try this.
Jphillips91 Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 thanks for the responses guys, ill look into the thermal switch, and then try a new bulb!
Gurra Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Try the bulb first, it is quicker to change and more likely to fail
Jphillips91 Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 Don't have any of the bulbs for that projector at the moment! We have stripped the projector, but cannot find a thermal switch anywhere! Can't see anything on the net for this specific model to have one. Will try the bulb ASAP. Thanks
Mickquinn Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 The location of the Thermal Trip would be about the same as the XE-40 model, Once you remove the fan you should see the little switch, or if looking down on top of the board you should see the little access hole over towards that side.
Gurra Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 There are images on the last post of this page. The switch is much easier to access from the side than through the access hole.
MadeInIreland Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 I had the same problem with one of my Sanyo PLC-SW35 projectors after replacing the bulb. It behaves normally until power on, when the power light goes green for about 10 seconds, then the fans wind up to full and the power indicator flashes. No image comes out. I do not know where the thermal switch is, but I have had the cover off before on a spares unit, so I know where what I think the thermal switch is. Any ideas?
