TGilly Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Hi All, Does sims have the ability to re-set passwords for a group of users? We are looking for security purposes to perhaps ask teachers once a year to change their passwords, then bulk re-set them. Has anyone done anything like this before? I am aware that I can go into each individual user and re-set it, but am not looking at doing it this way due to the time it will take. Thanks Tom
vikpaw Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Nope, the easiest thing to do is link it to windows passwords, and use trusted authentication, then you can enforce a password change policy, and complexity while you're at it.
TGilly Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 If you do this, does the user then have to login to sims as well as the work station? Or does this happen automatically when they login to windows?

vikpaw Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 The connect.ini has a change to it, to say logon is TrustedAuto, so it's automatic. i set ours to just Trusted which means they have the option to login with old style uname/pword, and those in admin that have been set to single sign on, just click OK and it logs them in. The advantage is that anyone can come along and use SIMS even if someone else is logged in. It's not advised, but sometimes used. Especially for support.
