Cannot share HP Laserjet 1022N in new domain

We have just upgraded to Server 2012 and Windows 7 and I'm trying to install an HP 1022n and I can just about to get it to work on a USB port but it won't share, says the user doesn't have access. I've installed an Officejet Pro 8000 on the same computer and shared that ok. There's only a basic driver for the 1022n on the HP site, so I suspect that it just won't work with Windows 7.

 

The printer is only used in the office for the odd confidential stuff. Can anyone recommend a cheap mono network printer that will work?

Good luck with this, can you use the bog standard HP LaserJet driver does this work?

The only one available is the bog standard plug and play one.

Are the 7 machines 32-bit? Might need to add the additional driver in the device settings.

They are 32bit. I'll give it a try.

Strange. I just got round to trying again and it worked using the Windows drivers. Except that it just kept churning out copies. Turning off bi-directional printing fixed that.
