Problems when trying to capture Win 7 Image

Hi all,

 

I am trying to set up a trolley full of brand new laptops (HP 655) with Windows 7 (the were purchased with Windows 8 installed), and knew the easiest way for me would be to use WDS. This however is not the case as I am totally stuck!

 

The operating system has been installed and updated, and all the necessary software and drivers have been installed. I have sysprep'd the machine ready for capturing the image and there is a capture file ready on the server. Now, when I network boot the computer, from what I have seen before, it should come up with "contacting the server..." etc and then eventually give you a list of either boot or capture files of which I need to select 'capture'... This doesnt happen! I'll hit F12 to Network Boot and it then displays a message "F12 for Network Service Boot", upon hitting F12 the 2nd time it boots straight into Windows 8 setup and following that into Windows Deployment Services to pick an image to boot into. So looks like it automatically selects the first option without giving the chance to change.

 

Has anyone got any ideas of a solution ?

 

I have changed the necessary BIOS settings to be able to network boot, ie. Legacy Support.

Does the bios have a wipe drive option like the busness ones, maybe wipe the drive giving it no choice but to try other methods.

Check the BIOS for SecureBoot options.

 

This needs to be disabled.

 

You may need to adjust other BIOS settings, so giving HP support a call is probably best.

How come you don't create the image in hyper v/vmware/vbox. Keeps the image clean. Drivers can be applied on deployment. Also sounds silly are there any options to enable keyboard or legacy keyboard? Edited April 11, 2013 by free780
