[centos] Memory usage on my personal VPS

Long long story, but for a while my VPS has had high memory usage, not really a problem but it does cause the server to randomly fall over. Now I only have a few paying customers on there it's got better but I would still like to sort it. Under process manager I have quite a few entries like this

 

/usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -k start -DSSL

 

Each one takes about 3.5% memory so having 10 or 12 of them at any one time is annoying. Anyone know of a way to make sure these are killed off? I have been through many many suggestions and changed things under Tweak Settings and these have not made much difference if any!

Try Htop. I like use that. I think its more in depth.

 

As for ram. Linux likes to steal the ram for its self then let it go when other programs need it. I take it you are using Cpanel? Remember Cpanel needs around 1-2gb of ram to run smoothly. Forums and wordpress sites eat ram aswell.

Work out what they are doing, could be a misbehaving website.

Thanks guys, I have not had a chance since I posted to have a proper look. I have disabled SpamAssassin for now as well and that has made a big difference to memory usage. I am aiming to get it to the point I can lower the package I am on without it maxing out again.
