Read/Write Speeds and IOPS of Apples Flash Storage

Ok, so looking at getting a new MacBook Pro (the 15 Retina Display one) and I'm wondering what the flash storage R/W speeds and the IOPS is. I've checked on the Apple store, which wasn't very helpful, so I chatted to a technical sales specialist (that should probably be in sarcastic quotes) online and the conversation basically went something like this:

 

Me: can you tell me what the actual read write speeds are of the flash storage including the IOPS

Apple: they're at least 4 times faster than a standard 7200rpm drive

Me: yes, but can you give me figures?

Apple: erm.. they're 4 times faster

 

So, I thought I'd see if anyone on here happens to know those answers. I did manage to get out that the read speeds were around 500, but other than that ..

Gotta say, love the fact that there are video types it still couldn't handle! Imagine how SATA disks would've coped!

Some rMBP's come with Samsung PM830 SSDs, while others come with SanDisk X100 SSDs (which isn't as good).

Sandisk make great memory cards, SSDs, hmmmmmmmm, perrhaps not.

I might go back to Apple and find out what branded SSD they say they use themselves .. then I can look up those specs .. thanks for all the response thus far ..

I seriously doubt you will get a straight answer from Apple. You just get what you are given.

 

It's easy to tell the make of the SSD once you have the MacBook Pro by going to the Apple menu » About this Mac » More Info... » System Report... » Serial ATA. Samsung SSDs start with SMxxxE and SanDisk SSDs start with SDxxxE.
