RM Profile - USB Controller Driver for Windows XP

I've just managed to get in a loan unit of the new RM Profile. Now, although RM tell me that it won't support Windows XP. I need to get Windows XP running on it to work with our network until we go down the route of Windows 7/8 and CC4 in the summer. (Not my choice, so don't jump on me! )

 

Interestingly enough the RM Profile built perfectly using my standard RIS image and found every driver except one: Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller. Without this, I can't get any USB devices working! Now, I've run Unknown Devices and it's given me a little more information.

 

The manufacturer seems to be "Elitegroup Commputer Sys" and the Hardware ID is "VEN_1B21&DEV_1042&SUBSYS_10421019&REV_00"

 

I've searched far and wide but cannot find the driver anywhere. Can anyone help please?

It's prob because it's a USB3 device, XP doesn't support it.

 

Give Easily explore your PC, it may be able to find the driver for you

Thanks, I just had the same idea but instead downloaded Speccy and it told me the motherboard is an ECS H61H2-TI. Amazingly, they still support Windows XP!

 

Here is the driver (ASMedia USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver), just in case anyone else needs to do the same (unlikely!)

The Hardware ID seems to indicate that it's an ASMedia XHCI Controller.

 

I'd try pulling the ASMedia XP USB 3 drivers from here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P8H67-M PRO

Thanks for that Tom. Just out of interest, how did you find out that it was an ASMedia Controller from the Hardware ID? I tried searching it in Google, but only got useless results.

I tend to google the vendor and first part of the device ID (VEN_1B21&DEV_1042 in this case).

 

I'll double check the vendor at PCI Vendors | vendev.org

 

Then I'll pull the driver down from a known site (Normally the larger Motherboard manufacturers [ASUS/Gigabyte/Intel] or a direct manufacturer [Realtek]) and check for the hardware ID in the .inf file.

 

Long-winded, but 95% of the time, it lands me right on what I'm looking for
