[sims] FMS - Scanning Documents & Documentation

Hi

 

Our Finance Manager wants to start using the FMS facility to store invoices, requisition forms etc electronically. Our local support unit have given me some very general guidance - but just wondered if any of you gurus could talk me through the process - especially setting up the filestream and NTFS folders etc.

 

Also in our FMS going to Help - Documentation doesn't do anything - anyone have any idea why?

Are you running it on the server? Some of the docs are now stored on the internet, but the index should be located in the prog files folder locally, under sims\fmssql\fmsdoccentre.pdf at least that's where mine is with Autumn update. 7.148

Thanks @vikpaw - I have the fmsdoccentre.pdf in program files - just the link from within FMS isn't working.

 

Any ideas over this scanning/storing files with links in FMS please?

sorry no idea on the actual problem, sorry i figured the help manual would help.

as for why it won't link, most likely you're on windows 7, and the user sims is running as doesn't have permission on that part of the C drive.

i bet if you right click runas admin it would work.

you might need to get permission for your account over the c drive folder or mess around with permissions a bit.

Thanks. In the end I've just copied the PDFs out of program files for our Finance Manager to look at. Run as administrator didn't help.
