scotstech Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Hi folks, Hoping someone's encountered this issue. I have an Acer Aspire 5738 laptop which is not seeing the DVD drive. I did a search on the site to see if there were any hits, but no luck. Googling "acer not seeing dvd drive" returns lots of hits, but no fixes. Have swapped out drive for known good one - this results in the drive being seen sometimes in both BIOS and OS. Original drive works fine in other brand laptop (toshiba) after I removed the custom front panel. OS is w7 x86 sp1 - clean install (using said "faulty" drive) Any suggestions please? TIA
techsup1983 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Hello. If i was in this situation, first I would try slim drivers, maybe it will find an update or missing driver that will solve your issue. https://www.slimwareutilities.com/slimdrivers.php secondly, or maybe even firstly i would go to the acer download site and check you have everyting. Acer | Download There is also a micrsoft fix for missing cd drive, i would suggest that you look it over. Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs last thing to suggest is i wouldnt get an acer Good luck!
newpersn Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Try a bios update. Thats how I fixed my problem.
