Hi, I don't know haow many of you have used/had experience Censornet, but here are a list of things I would like to do:

1. Put CN in Bridge Mode (I only have 1 NIC installed) I have heard that this can be successful.

2. Disable Authentication & the Workstation register thing.

Thanks

If it's 1 NIC it ain't *really* bridge, but you can still potentially use it in transparent mode (assuming its anything like Guardian, TBH its a while since I ran up censornet, and I cant remember if it has that feature). Authentication will be disabled in transparent mode in any case.

Aha, thank you very much. I am getting the impression that Brigde mode is transparent mode:

if it's doing firewall as well tho it'll need 2 nics...

the way we do transparent w/o firewall is for the filter to act as a gateway, but all traffic is actually forwarded to the "real" gateway except www stuff which is hijacked and scanned.

What firewall are you using? It might actually be worth combining the tasks... it certainly makes life easier in some situations.

your other option is "no transparent" proxying - which would allow authentication (although our Guardian can do auth w/ transparent) and HTTPS filtering (can't be done transparently)

In that case it's either non-transparent proxying, or the aforementioned "2 gateways" trick.

There are a fair few crafty ways to get a PC to use a non-transparent proxy, but you'd have to ensure that your firewall was blocking web traffic from the majority of users.
