Yeo695 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Any ideas on an IM chat site (program if needed), Possibley through a 3rd party website. For example, a student or teacher has an issue with a laptop and if the open a live chat IM window with me they can tell me whats going on and I can then proceed to remote into their computer. I've though about AIM but I would like to avoid using a program, I would prefer a site. I want to try as much as possible to lock down communications between the users and me only. I want to avoid teacher to teacher chat. Maybe if I host my own site strictly for that? or have an add on to the districts site? Any ideas? -Thanks
Domino Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Openfire server, and the spark client is a good fit for this: Ignite Realtime: Openfire Server run it internally and have IM you can lock down.
Admiral208 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 How about this. Crafty Syntax Live Help I found it the other day looking for something else. It looks a bit old school and I have never used it but thought it looked like it might be useful.
Yeo695 Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 Students do no have an email. I was looking into Mibew Messenger? Has anyone used this before? I would have to add it to the Districts website.
Yeo695 Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 I do like the OP Smartdesk, but I'm not sure if this is a possibility to replace the ticket system we currently use.
localzuk Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Openfire server, and the spark client is a good fit for this: Ignite Realtime: Openfire Server run it internally and have IM you can lock down. This is how I'd do it. Although, if the client was too much, there are a pile of Jabber libraries out there and crafting a simple help chat client would be easy if you have a bit of programming knowledge.
MordyT Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Basically you need a live chat program. Try stardeveolp live help, I use that, one off cost OR livezilla for free (older versions). Both basically allow them to only contact you... I use it for presales...
