Square pegs and round holes

I have ended up trying to sort a backup in a primary. They have;

 

1 Windows Server 2003 32 BIT with a backup drive and PCI X SCSI card in it, running Seagate Backup exec 9.1

1 Windows Server 2008 64 BIT running SIMS (which they want backed up obviously) and won't take a PCI X card

 

I can't push the remote backup agent to the SIMS server because the backup software won't push to a 64 BIT OS, and I can't put the backup drive in the SIMS server as it doesn't have a PCI X slot, and I don't have the software disk to re-install the Backup Exec.

 

Anyone got a solution which doesn't cost money? I have everything I should need, just can't figure a working combination.

 

Or do they need to spend a few ££s?

Not that it's a great deal of help but I have a similar situation. Not being able to spend £'s and still having to spend some time sussing out a system of servers and back-up regimes I inherited...

I have just chosen to do a daily, manual Back-up once from the server '08 to a networked drive on the Server '03 machine (which is where the removable back-up media and the rest of the back-up's and back-up software resides), same as your set-up.

This suits for now until I can get around to something more elegant...
