Hi,

Bizaare problem - Excel (2010) on a machine has lost its ribbon & menu (and is hence virtually unusable!). I have tried the solutions I have found Googling (incl uninstalling & re-installing - rebbot between) to no avail. Very starngely after reinstalling the menu/ribbon were STILL not there! Anyone got any bright ideas. Getting desperate now as it's preventing office doing daily calculations etc for dinner money transactions!!

is it for all users or just one?

might be worth going into appdata and deleting all office preferences as i dont think uninstall does that

Thanks, now worked out what it's doing (but not why!). It appears that the individual sheets that were open were maximised and were hiding the menu/ribbon. Minimising the sheets magically reveals them! Not sure why it's maximising over the top of the ribbon, but at least we can now work with it. Bit more investigation may be required!

Just solved the problem for a work colleague.

Either "alt+blank space bar" or Right click the excel logo in the very top left corner and you get the usual "restore, minimise, maximise" menu but at the bottom of the menu list is an option for "close full screen". This option worked. We found how he inadvertently went into full screen from the "view" ribbon ""full screen button.

We have since found that the "Esc" keyboard button also works as well as right-click anywhere on the screen "close full screen" appears at the bottom of the menu.
