binky Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 http://www.rm.com/Support/TechnicalArticle.asp?cref=TEC976756&nav=0&referrer=SupportHome Just found this on the RM site, it looks interesting, has anyone else seen this, or knows how to obtain a copy?
russdev Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Yes rm training servers are servers used in training courses I think got released to masses by accident i suspect. Same
plexer Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Why not just try vmware converter on your own server then you have a vm to play with? Ben
russdev Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 ohh can of worms... main thing is need to buy extra licenses now one thing we are doing this summer is creating vmware image of build station... Russell
Diello Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 If you find out the secret can you let me know Russ! Been trying to do that for ages, but it never builds, just falls over on Setting Domain Security. Been driving me nuts.
webman Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Diello: We've managed fine in the past just using standard build disks. We did nothing different to building a normal machine. (a clean machine)
russdev Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Way we are thinking of doing is creating a image using ghost of our package machine and converting ghost image to vmware image. Russ
CheeseDog Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Diello: We've managed fine in the past just using standard build disks. We did nothing different to building a normal machine. Using Virtual PC here but I get the same here workstation builds as normal. (Got a feeling I needed to make a custom build disk) Not managed to successfully recover the server to a Virtual PC server failed to boot after recovering the backup. I was expecting problems but I had to try just to make sure. Guess I'm going to have to build one from scratch if I'm going to play with a test server. I assumed I'd need extra licenses to do this so I never bothered taking it much further.
binky Posted July 18, 2007 Author Posted July 18, 2007 if you take a look at that article it also reveals that there is a server image - this would be good to have for a test network.
TechMonkey Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 managed to make a vmware build station using a custom disk with the AMD PCNET DOS driver on. Beyond that needed nothing special doing to it or to change any settings in VMware
randle Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 @TechMonkey: Do you have a direct link to the drivers you found for this please!?
