Yet Another W8 Problem

We have everything working perfectly except one thing. Internet explorer !! Yes we are currently using 2008 r2 but none of the group policy settings for internet explorer actuarly apply to the clients. Its extreamly frustraiting. Does anyone know a fix?

You can only configure the IE10 settings from a Win8 or Server2012 machine running the GPMC. You must use GPP rather than GPO configuration settings.

best way ive found is to use a wpad.dat file on server that way any windows device will pick up proxy settings domained or not. But as above if you look on server2012 the old settings under user settings\windows settings\ie maintanance. . . are not there anymore and you get a big red x in rsop if you apply them to an 08/2012 box

NO the old setting that have worked from windows 2000 to windows 7 are no longer there in local policies and ignored on domain group policy so you cant use them rsop will just throw an error and it will do nowt.

 

wpad.dat is basically a bit of fiddling with the server so it dishes out the proxy setting automagically best bet is google it its not hard but probably requires a server reboot

Win8/Server2012 expects you to be using GPP.

Fixed it using RSAT and editing that way. You people are awsome thanks. By the way is it a feature or a bug that IE10 opens your last visited page on open ?
